Blaming the victim, while also making her not her own person, but someone’s daughter.
The perpetrator, his behaviour, his clothes, his motives, his contribution to the crime he allegedly committed, none of those things make it the headline, the sub-headline or the first two paragraphs. They’re all devoted to making sure readers are fully convinced the victim was drunk, as if that’s the reason or even slightly relevant to why she was raped and murdered.
Not the first women have had to say this and it won’t be the last:
