The Townsville Bulletin accurately reported that a 45 year old man was convicted and jailed on four counts of indecent treatment of a child.
However, he was also convicted of two counts of rape of that child.
The judge said he showed no remorse, that he was in a position of trust with a vulnerable child and he was found guilty of raping her.
What possible reason could there be to dilute his crimes against the child down from rape to indecent treatment? He raped her. That’s what happened. Say that.
Hiding from the reality of rape and child abuse does the victims a terrible disservice and fails to serve the purpose of journalism. There’s no reason or excuse for this.
