I get it. The investigation into Tinder’s protection racket for rapists was shocking. It was a much needed forensic excoriation dating apps prioritising profit over safety.

Dating apps should be accountable for enabling rapists and women should know that  rapists are using apps like Tinder as a tool for finding women to rape. It is definitely useful to know how the functions of the app allow predators to delete records of past interactions with the women they’ve abused.

All these things don’t change the underlying problem, which is not the apps or the women who use them.

Rape is caused by men who choose to commit rape.

Whether they meet women online, at a party, through a friend or over the cabbages at Coles, the cause and the blame for rape is always the rapist.

Lots of people date without raping someone. I did it for years. It wasn’t even difficult! I’m pretty sure men could do it if they tried, but if they’re worried about raping someone, maybe they should stay away from dating apps until they’re sure they’re a safe person to date.
