Conductor Charles Dutoit has been accused of one count of rape and several sexual assaults against nine different women. This is not the same as “sex”.  Something Yahoo appears to have some trouble understanding.

Sex happens between people who can and do consent to everything they do with each other. If one person did not give consent it is not sex. It is abuse, assault, harassment or rape.

These women are not alleging that consensual activities took place. In fact they are saying the exact opposite.

Calling them “sex claims” implies the allegations involve a consensual act (sex) rather than a non-consensual act (assault, harassment or rape).

The allegations need to be tested in court but when the media is reporting them they need to report the facts and the facts here are that Dutoit is accused of rape and sexual harassment, not sex.
