FixedIt: Sexual assault is a choice and men can control their sexual urges

October 2, 2017by Jane Gilmore

The Cairns Post in yet another headline that endorses the excuses men make for their violence.

Lots of people – men and women – get horny. They chose what to do with those feelings.

This man didn’t commit sexual assault because he was horny, he committed sexual assault because he made the choice to do so. Men are not helpless victims of their urges. They are adults who make choices and are responsible for those choices.

FixedIt is an ongoing project to push back against the media’s constant erasure of violent men and blaming of innocent victims. If you would like to help fund it – even $5 a month makes a big difference – please consider becoming a Patron
