The Border Mail reported that a 42 year old man sent “sexually explicit” text messages to his partner’s 15 year old daughter that left her feeling “disgusted and sick”. Despite him asking her to not tell her mother, she did, and her mother called the police.
This was not “sex messages”. It was abuse and harassment. He was an adult in her home. He was in a relationship with her mother. She was a child. Nothing about this had anything to do with “sex”. Misnaming it as sex diminishes his responsibility for his crimes and the damage he did to an innocent child.
