Yes, you can rape a woman if she is a sex worker. Because she is a woman and a person before she is her job. Dehumanising rape victims is abhorrent.

Mohammad and Khalid Alibassi raped three women. Their crimes are not diminished by the profession of their victims. The ABC should know better, but yet again, it appears that they don’t.

Sex work is dangerous, but not because they are working with toxic chemicals or high risk machinery, it’s because they are working with men. The men who put sex workers in danger are the ones who believe they are easy prey, they’re “bad women” and they are therefore acceptable vessels for male violence. The belief is utterly false and should not be given any credence.

No one can buy the right to rape someone.
