The Herald Sun reported that the Supreme Court rejected an appeal from a man convicted of raping a woman, hitting her up to 150 times and choking her.
Despite what you might believe from this headline, the Court of Appeal found the guilty verdict was not “illogical” and that there was no reason to believe the jury didn’t find the vicim a credible witness. The judges found “there was a logical and reasonable basis for the jury to have convicted the applicant on charge 3, while acquitting him of the other charges”.
The “logical and reasonable basis” was not that she didn’t consent in relation to the other charges, but only that the prosecution could not prove beyond reasonable doubt that the rapist knew the victim did not consent.

Finally, as I have written many times before, Tinder was not raped, a woman was raped. Tinder is not the cause of rape. Women who are on Tinder are not to blame for rape and erasing a rape victim to replace her with the medium through which she met her rapist is implicit victim blaming. It has no place in journalism.
