I’ve been writing about the various ways in which the Morrison Government has failed women for too many years.

It’s time to do more than just write about it.

So, I am starting a political party and running for the Senate.

As an Independent Senator for Victoria, I will promote and support legislation to keep women and children safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

And you can bet I will be holding government to account if it continues to ignore women’s voices, women’s safety, and women’s rights.

Fix it? Yes we can!

Safety is not just about protection from physical violence. It also means having economic, medical, legal, educational, professional, political, social, environmental, and emotional security. Some of those things can be legislated. Some of them need to be embodied in public life.

Send me to the Senate so I can help do both.

I will also support and advocate for any effective legislation on climate change, and a federal anti-corruption commission.

The Fix It Party has a constitution (as required by The Australian Electoral Commission. It lays out the party’s objectives, office bearers and financial policy. You can download it by clicking on the link below.

What I need from you

The Australia Electoral Commission requirements to register a political party is 1500 members and $500.

I need 1500 people to register as party members before next week

If you are on the electoral roll and you are not a member of any other political party, please register here. You will need to provide your full name, date of birth, address, email and phone number. This information will be forwarded to the Australian Electoral Commission, and they may contact you to confirm your registration (they will have details they will ask you to confirm, do not give out your details without being sure it is an AEC official).

Anyone in any state in Australia who is on the electoral roll can register, as long as you were not a member of another party for registration purposes. So, if you have ever become a member of a party to get them registered with the AEC, you can’t do it again. Everyone else can – and, please, do.

No one else will have access to your information other than me. I will not share or sell your data. I will use your email address to keep you up to date with what I am doing in the campaign, but you can unsubscribe at any time.

Donations

This is a grassroots campaign. I have no major funders and I don’t expect to get any – because I won’t make promises in exchange for money.

If this campaign is going to pay for registration, staff, advertising, artwork, t-shirts, buttons, bumper stickers and all the other paraphernalia of campaigning, it’s going to come from you. I know this is a tough time for everyone. Small amounts from a lot of people can really add up, so if you can spare even a few dollars, please do.

Donations might be tax deductible (see this information from the Australian Tax Office) but you should always check tax advice with your accountant.
