Professional white men are just as likely as any other men to commit violence against women. Shooting police detectives is still a crime even if you wear a tie to work.
Yahoo news reported that Christian McCall has been arrested and charged with one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder, first-degree criminal domestic violence and four weapons charges. Police allege McCall punched his wife and hit her head against bricks, grabbed her wrist and pulled her hair, all while their 15-year-old daughter was in the home. Police also say he shot at detectives trying to find him. York County Detective Mike Doty was killed and three other police officers were wounded.
The first two paragraphs of the article:
“A banker suspected of killing a police officer and wounding three others after a domestic dispute two months ago spent eight years in the Army and had a successful professional career making nearly $86,000 a year.
The burst of unusual violence stunned family, who said they didn’t see any signs of looming problems or a violent breakdown.”
The allegations against him have no relationship to his career or how much he earned. His family probably are stunned but again, that has nothing to do with the crimes of which he was accused.
The article also includes a quote from the family about what a “loving Christian” and great family man he is. It did not mention anything about the family of the murdered police detective or the wife he allegedly assaulted. the victims were not humanised or presented sympathetically, that was saved only for the man arrested for alleged crimes against them.
This is bizarre reporting, even for Yahoo.
