The West Australia reported on an FOI investigation of how universities in WA are responding to allegations of sexual assault, harassment or misconduct. The article doesn’t say who initiated the FOI investigation but it does state that there were 59 allegations made in WA universities last year.

The headline called them “sex complaints”. Multiple allegations of rape. Dozens of cases of sexual harassment. And that’s just in one year. These are not “sex complaints”. Rape is not “sex”. Sexual harassment is not “sex”. Allegations are not “complaints”, like these women are whining about not getting another ice cream. They are reporting serious crimes to the institution responsible for their welfare. They deserve much better than being dismissed and mislabeled as making “sex complaints”>
