WRAGE is inclusive and intersectional.
WRAGE recognises the traditional owners of the land on which we live and understands First Nations people suffer ongoing trauma due to colonisation. I accept the invitation from the Uluru Statement from the Heart and I pledge to support a First Nations voice to parliament protected by the constitution.
Women means ALL women, regardless of age, gender assigned at birth, sexuality, or gender identity. If you want political support for vilifying anyone in the LBGTIQ community, your options are the Australian “Christian” Lobby, One Nation, and the conservative right wing of the Liberal and National parties.
Race, religion, class, disability, sexuality, gender identity, gender, and parenthood are used as excuses to diminish and silence people who are oppressed and disadvantaged.
I cannot speak on behalf of all Australian women and non binary people. I wouldn’t try. I can, however, listen to the people who tell me about their experiences and amplify the voices of marginalised people.
One of the reasons I want to be in the Senate (rather than the lower house) is that the Senate is where inquires and reviews take place. Senators can insist the committees take the time to listen to everyone who might be affected by the subject under review. This is something I promise to do.
